Improving Wellbeing for Rainbow Young People - a Conversation Spanning Practice and Wider Systems

Joey Macdonald, Te Ngākau Kahukura

Moira Clunie, Te Ngākau Kahukura

How can we effectively advocate for rainbow young people across the youth sector? Why is it important for rainbow young people to be included and respected - and how do we know when that’s happening? How can we effect wider systemic change that removes discrimination and supports the wellbeing of our rainbow young people at a population level? Joey and Moira from Te Ngākau Kahukura will facilitate a workshop about rainbow young people and social belonging - focusing on how we do advocacy on the ground, in our practice, and how that connects to the bigger picture. How do we create an Aotearoa in which our rainbow young people are thriving? How can we work together to better enable the youth sector to welcome, include, respect and count our rainbow young people? There are fantastic local organisations in Ōtautahi. How can people working in youth services link up with relevant rainbow organisations? We will also explore the connections between the resources that Te Ngākau Kahukura offers as a project with national reach.
