Doing it the PYD Way: how can the principles of Positive Youth Development enhance your practice?

Duane Major - South West Baptist Church and Fi Stewart - Cultivate.

If you work with young people, this workshop delivered by experienced PYD practitioners is for you. Whether you want a refresher on PYD, or you are new to it, you will gain valuable insights for your practice. A key resource will be Positive Youth Development Aotearoa (PYDA).

PYD is a strengths-based approach that places value on young people and seeks to develop youth as assets rather than seeing them as ‘problems’ to the fixed. It positions young people as active participants in their own journeys, embedded within their wider whānau/ families and communities.

This presentation will also be used to launch a Community of Practice. This will be an ongoing opportunity for people to develop their practice together, based on a shared interest in working from a PYD perspective. This workshop is part of the Youth Development Champions Project which is a partnership between Wayne Francis Charitable Trust and The Collaborative Trust.
